SIDE A – Sparkers to kickstart excitement

Wire – Field Day For The Sundays

Short, sweet & energetic. Anything from Pink Flag will do. Short songs really do it for me, there's no need to keep a song going if you can nail in 30 seconds.

Andreas Dorau – Tulpen und Narzissen

So simple yet so fantastically good. Bizarre lyrics. Catchy melody. On repeat.

The Undertones – Teenage Kicks

This song just makes me happy—the jump up and down kind of happy.

France Gall – Laisse tomber les filles

The era, the attitude, the catchy melody. Later reformulated in English by April March Chick Habit, also good.

Shankar Jaikishan – Jaan Pahechan Ho (from the Gumnaam soundtrack)

I'm not a dancer, but oh man, if I could dance, it would be to this (even if exceeds my 30 second quota by far).

SIDE B—Churners to work to
Willie Tee – Walking Up a One Way Street

Spring, New York City, quick steps and whistling.

Sonic Youth – Superstar

Hit the chorus and I get goose bumps.

Adam Green – Cigarette Burns Forever

Mr Green is a fabulous lyricist. Continually so.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts – Crimson & Clover

I'm not a big fan of female vocalists but I can't resist Joan Jett (find the video and check her out at the top of the stairs at around 11 seconds).

Magnetic Fields – Absolutely Cuckoo

A favorite album of all time—you can pick any random ten songs from it and still have a phenomenal playlist.

Tom Lehrer – Poisoning Pigeons in the Park

Because Spring is the loveliest time of the year.
