Bee Gees – i Started a Joke

I was recently watching the film 'The Fighter', Christian Bale plays the real-life boxer Dicky Eklund and he sings this song to his mother in the car, it's so moving, 'I finally died, which started the whole world living.' It's a beautiful song.

Tim Hardin – Reason to Believe

My father used to manage Tim Hardin and he played this song to my parents in an italian restaurant and my mother was so touched she started to cry..this song always reminds me of my parents and makes me feel nostalgic of being small and hiding under tables while my parents were eating dinner.

The National – Think You Can Wait

Hard to choose one National song, they are all so good...but here is another song from a film, the new film 'Win Win' by Tom McCarthy. A beautiful, sad song.

Grizzly Bear – Deep Blue Sea

I love Grizzly Bear!

The Mamas and the Papas – Dream a Little Dream

Takes me back to being a teenager and a cheesy film I watched and then wanted to be a contemporary dancer...oh the early 90s.

Peter, Paul and Mary – Where Have All the Flowers Gone

I once saw someone sing this on stage, a lonely female voice and it was so fragile and beautiful.

Roxy Music – Dance Away

My mother used to play this in the car on the way to school, for mornings when my studio needs a little Bryan Ferry!

Philip Glass – The Hours Score

I listen to this while I write and it allows me to be in a whole different world.

Peter, Paul and Mary – If I had a Hammer

I seem to be on a bit of a folk, kick...this relates to the script I'm writing, and it reminds me of driving through Austin with my cousin...wind in our hair, thinking of freedom.

Sufjan Stevens – Chicago

I was recently on a road trip making some interviews and Sufjan was my soundtrack..I was listening to this climbing 'Enchanted Rock.' so in the studio it reminds me of the great outdoors.
